Founder and Principal

Leonetta Scappini, CPA, MSA has been working in accounting and taxation for over fifteen years.  After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting, Leonetta joined a public accounting firm where she was responsible for preparing financial statements and tax returns for small to mid-sized businesses and high net worth individuals, as well as leading a number of municipal and nonprofit auditing and consulting engagements.

In 2014, Leonetta founded Scappini CPA, P.C. (now Scappini & Pina, P.C.), where she specializes in providing comprehensive accounting and tax services to closely held businesses and individuals. Leo’s work includes researching, studying, and interpreting tax law as well as identifying tax savings and analyzing complex tax issues.

Leonetta was selected in 2012 as one of Cape & Plymouth Business Magazine’s “40 Under 40”, an award which spotlights the region’s top young business leaders who excel in their industry and show dynamic leadership. Leonetta is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and Treasurer of the Brick Row Condominium Association.  Leonetta and her family reside in Hingham, Massachusetts, where she serves on the Town’s Audit Committee.


Principal

Emily Pina, CPA, joined the firm as a principal in 2015. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Finance, as well as a Master in the Science of Management with a concentration in Accounting.

Emily has worked in public accounting since 2004 and has been responsible for a wide range of tax, accounting, auditing, and consulting services.   She enjoys getting to know her clients on a personal level and finds this creates a stronger working relationship. Whether she is creating a tax planning strategy for a small family business or completing a comprehensive internal control assessment for a larger corporation, Emily helps craft solutions that fit each client’s unique needs. Her ultimate goal with each client is to build a long-term relationship as their trusted adviser. Emily is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. Emily and her family reside in Hanson, MA.


Senior Accountant

Tara Mustone, CPA, is a senior staff accountant responsible for preparation of individual, fiduciary, and business tax returns, researching complex tax issues, and recommending client tax planning strategies and ideas.

Tara’s previous experience includes serving as the Internal Control Manager at Bruker Corp., a billion dollar publicly traded company with extensive international operations. In this role, Tara directed and managed the company’s world-wide compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and coordinated with key business executives across the globe. Tara is a graduate of Fairfield University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and resides with her family in Hanover, Massachusetts.


Staff Accountant

Rachael Mendonca is our in-house QuickBooks expert responsible for client accounting including posting transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing interim financial statements. Additionally, Rachael assists with preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns.


Staff Accountant

Rachel Gillis is a staff accountant with experience preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Rachel has passed the CPA Exam and is working toward obtaining her license. She enjoys helping clients with their taxes and bookkeeping, researching tax issues, and being part of a professional team.


Office Administrator

Alexandria Scalesse is our front desk office coordinator. Alexandria is responsible for answering telephones and greeting visitors, as well as helping to create a productive work environment while ensuring our clients receive the support they need.

Kim DiLoreto is an administrative coordinator responsible for carrying out clerical duties such as answering phone calls, responding to e-mails, preparing documents, and managing appointments.
